About Coaching

Couples coaching is forward-focused and action-oriented. Rather than processing deep trauma or working with psychological diagnosis, coaching helps you identify what you want for your relationship and build the practical skills to get there. Therapy addresses clinical mental health concerns and deep healing work. Coaching focuses on growth, goals, communication patterns, and creating the relationship you both actually want.
Couples coaching is for any two people in a committed relationship who want it to be better. That includes couples in crisis, couples drifting apart, couples preparing for marriage, and couples who are simply ready to invest in growing together. You do not have to be struggling to benefit. Many of our most successful clients come before things break down.
Our coaching draws primarily from the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and positive psychology. These are three of the most rigorously researched frameworks in relationship science. We use what the evidence supports, adapted to your specific relationship dynamic and goals.

Sessions and Format

Every couple is different. Most couples see meaningful, lasting progress within 6 to 10 sessions. Some prefer a shorter, more intensive approach over a few days. We assess your goals in the first session and build a plan that fits your timeline, your needs, and your budget. There is no minimum commitment required.
Each session begins with a brief check-in on where you are since the last session. From there we work through a focused agenda we build together based on your priorities. We introduce tools, practice new communication patterns, and work through whatever is most alive in your relationship right now. Every session ends with clear next steps. Nothing is left open-ended.
Most sessions are attended together as a couple. Occasionally, we may recommend individual sessions alongside couples work to support one partner's personal clarity or processing. This is discussed openly and agreed upon together, never done without both partners' awareness.

Getting Started

This is far more common than you might think. We offer individual coaching sessions to help you navigate this situation, and often when one partner invests in their own growth, the other naturally follows. Reach out and we can discuss the best first step for your specific situation. You do not need to wait for both partners to be ready before you begin.
Book a free 20-minute consultation through our services page. We will listen to where you are, answer your questions, and determine together whether we are the right fit. If we are, we will schedule your first full session and send a brief intake form so we can show up fully prepared on day one.
The first session is about deep listening. We explore your relationship's history, the patterns that have formed, what each of you has been carrying, and what you both genuinely want for the future. We do not assume anything. We ask. By the end of the first session you will have a clear sense of the direction and approach we will take together.

Costs and Scheduling

Standard 55-minute couples sessions are $185. Extended 90-minute sessions are $265. Online sessions are $165 per session. Our Premarital Package (8 sessions) is $995. Relationship Intensives are $450 for a half day and $850 for a full day. The initial 20-minute consultation is always free. Full pricing is listed on our Services page.
Couples coaching is not typically covered by health insurance, as it is not a clinical mental health service. We accept all major credit cards, HSA and FSA cards where applicable, and can provide a payment receipt upon request. Contact us if you have questions about payment options.
We typically have availability within one to two weeks for new clients. Intensives and premarital packages may require slightly more lead time. If you have an urgent situation, please contact us directly and we will do our best to accommodate you quickly.

Online Sessions

Yes. Research consistently shows that online coaching and therapy produce outcomes equivalent to in-person work for couples. Many of our clients actually prefer virtual sessions because of the comfort of being in their own space and the flexibility it provides for scheduling. The quality of the coaching is identical.
We use a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You will receive a private session link before each appointment. No downloads are required. All you need is a device with a camera and a reliable internet connection.

Premarital Coaching

We recommend starting 6 to 12 months before your wedding date. This gives you enough time to complete the full package without feeling rushed, and allows space to put what you learn into practice before the wedding. That said, we have worked with couples as close as 8 weeks out and still seen meaningful results.
PREPARE/ENRICH is the most widely used premarital assessment in the world, used with over 4 million couples. It evaluates communication, conflict resolution, partner style and habits, financial management, leisure activities, affection and sexuality, family and friends, relationship roles, and spiritual beliefs. Your personalized report becomes the foundation of your coaching sessions.
Not at all. Our premarital coaching is completely secular and inclusive. We work with couples of all backgrounds, beliefs, and orientations. The PREPARE/ENRICH assessment has both religious and non-religious versions, and we use the version that fits you.
